WEBMAIL

 

Webmail (or Web-based e-mail) is an email service intended to be primarily accessed via a web browser, as opposed to through a desktop email client like Outlook, Thunderbird etc.

 

Webmail can be used when your server mailbox has overfilled for some reason.

 

To view the email account usage we suggest that you log in to webmail for each email account. You will be able to easily view and remove unwanted mail directly off the server rather than download to your pc's desktop email client.

 

one:       e.g. Log in to http://mail.YOURFULLDOMAINNAME/webmail 

                  [replace the words 'YOURFULLDOMAINNAME' with your actual domain name - no www' s  but include .com.au etc]

               Username:   your full email address

               Password:   the assigned email password as created in cpanel > email

 

two:       Click on Horde or Round Cube for easy use.

 

three:     When you reach the 'Welcome' Screen please activate the sidebar window if not already open.

 

four:       Click on 'Mail' and each of the sub mailboxes until you find the ones that are showing existing mail.

 

five:       If you are using Horde and you have a large amount of mail to delete and purge, 

               a. Click Mail, then Option > Other Options > Mailbox and Folder Display Options

               b. Here you can set the number of messages to display per page so you may eliminate large amounts of mail in one sitting. ( Default is 20, you can set to 999 if you have thousands of messages to delete)

 

six:          Delete the mail as required. It is important to PURGE DELETED ( like emptying trash) mail as otherwise it stays on the server. 

 

NOTE: If you are sure that you do not want to keep ANY mail in the server mailbox for a particular email address it is possible to delete the email account from cpanel.  Wait a couple of minutes and then re-create the email account ( use the same password etc) and all the previous contents will be automatically wiped off leaving you with a clean mailbox on the server ready to receive and download your mail as before.
